Apple crumble is easiestly one of the BEST desserts to exist,so when you mix it with a cake it's like a warm, cozy hug in dessert form. It's a delightful combination of tender apple slices layered in a moist cake base, generously topped with a sweet and crunchy crumble topping. This dessert is the perfect blend of fruity goodness and comforting textures, making it a favorite for any occasion or just a sweet treat to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Apples

4 granny smith apples, sliced and peeled

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp light brown sugar


Streusel

65g white sugar

80g plain flour

45g unsalted butter melted


Cake

180g self raising flour

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

50g softened unsalted butter

50ml vegetable oil

150g caster sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla paste

120ml whole milk

1 tsp cinnamon

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or a similar-sized baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced and peeled apples, cinnamon, and light brown sugar. Toss the apple slices until they are well coated, and set them aside.
  3. To make the streusel topping, mix together the white sugar, plain flour, and melted butter in another bowl until you have a crumbly texture. Set this aside as well.
  4. For the cake batter, in a separate large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, vegetable oil, and caster sugar until it's light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla paste.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the self-raising flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  8. Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Arrange the apple slices on top of the cake batter, creating an even layer.
  10. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the apples.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, and the top is golden brown.
  12. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
  13. After cooling, you can serve your delicious Apple Crumble Cake warm or at room temperature. It's perfect on its own or with a hearty portion of custard.
