About this recipe

Embrace the simple joy of a cozy evening with a mug of homemade Terry's Chocolate Orange hot chocolate. This delightful concoction melds the creaminess of full-fat milk and double cream with the luscious sweetness of chopped Terry's Chocolate Orange, creating a rich and indulgent treat. As the velvety mixture simmers on the stove, the kitchen is filled with the irresistible aroma of chocolate and citrus. A touch of cornstarch thickens the hot chocolate to perfection, ensuring each sip is a luxurious blend of comfort and flavor. Topped with a dusting of chocolate powder, this warm elixir is the epitome of coziness, inviting you to wrap yourself in a blanket, savor the moment, and let the harmonious combination of chocolate and orange transport you to a world of sweet contentment.

Ingredients

  • 598ml (1 pint) milk (full-fat or any type you prefer)
  • 200ml double cream
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate powder
  • 250g chopped terry orange, chopped

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Carefully chop the Terry's Chocolate Orange into small pieces. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of milk to create a smooth paste. Ensure there are no lumps.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the milk and double cream. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer, but do not let it boil.
  4. Add the chopped Terry's Chocolate Orange pieces to the simmering milk and cream mixture. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Gradually whisk in the cornstarch paste into the hot chocolate mixture. Continue stirring until the hot chocolate thickens to your desired consistency. This should take a few minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate powder into the hot chocolate and stir well to combine. This will enhance the chocolate flavor.
  7. Once the hot chocolate has thickened and is well mixed, remove it from the heat.

Garnish (Optional):

  1. You can garnish your Terry's Chocolate Orange hot chocolate with additional chopped chocolate or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
  2. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and enjoy your delicious Terry's Chocolate Orange hot chocolate!
