About this recipe

Chocolate cake is one of the best cakes but if you are not a confident baker you may want to use a boxed cake. So here are some tips I use to make them taste 10x better.

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 Chocolate Boxed Cake
  • 3 Eggs
  • 3 tbsp greek yoghurt
  • 120ml oil or melted butter
  • 250ml milk
  • 50ml espresso (2 tbsp instant coffee + 50ml boiling water)

Ganache

  • 270ml double cream
  • 250g dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celcius.
  2. Combine all cake ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and combine until a batter.
  3. Line an 8-inch cake tin with greaseproof paper and ensure there is an overhand so that the cake can rise as much as needed and not be stodgy.
  4. Pour the cake mixture into the pre-lined cake tin and bake for 25-28 minutes.
  5. While the cake is baking, make your chocolate ganache by heating out 270ml double cream.
  6. Mix this together and set it aside, it will get thicker so don't worry about it being runny for now.
  7. Once the cake is out of the oven and cooled pour your ganache onto the cake and leave it to set.
  8. Enjoy!
