About this recipe

Jamaican Curry Goat is a delicious slow cooked Jamaican Spiced Curry that is full of flavour and tender to the bone! I invited my friend Yella to help me with her great tips!

Ingredients

  • 1kg goat meat (cut in chunks)
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic puree
  • 1 thumb of  ginger, minced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 4-5 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 2 spring onions sliced
  • 2-3 medium potatoes
  • 1 scotch bonnet pepper (slice and add into the sauce if you like it very spicy)
  • salt to taste

  1. Wash your meat thoroughly with lime and water then pat dry.
  2. Season goat with salt, pepper and curry powder then set aside (make sure to wear gloves as curry powder can stain your hands)
  3. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat, until hot, and then add the goat meat stirring frequently until the goat is brown.
  4. Add the ginger, white pepper, garlic, onions, thyme, spring onions and scotch bonnet pepper and stir for about a minute.
  5. Then pour in just enough water to cover the goat then cover your pan with tinfoil then the lid and let it simmer until tender (depending on the goat size and preference) about 2 hours or more, stirring the saucepan occasionally and adding more water as needed..
  6. About 15-20 minutes before you remove from the stove add potatoes and bouillon powder. Continue cooking until potatoes are tender, if you want really thick curry goat let the potatoes cook even more .
  7. You may adjust thickness of soup with water or stock.
