About this recipe

These wings are always the last add-on in your takeaway order that you never regret. Make sure to make these the next time you crave a Chinese: Crunchy, spicy and delicious!

Ingredients

Chicken Wings:

1kg chicken wings

1 tsp sea salt

1 tbsp white pepper

2 tbsp Chinese 5 spice

1 tsp garlic granules

1 1/2 tsp black pepper

2 tbsp shaoxing wine or rice wine vinegar


Batter:

150g corn flour

100g plain flour

1 tbsp white pepper


Toppings:

2 red chilli's, finely sliced

2 green chilli's, finely sliced

bunch of spring onions

1 tsp garlic paste

Instructions

  1. Season your chicken wings with all seasonings listed above and leave to marinate for a least 30 minutes or overnight.
  2. In a small bowl combine your cornflour, plain flour and white pepper.
  3. Add your marinated chicken wings to the flour mixture and toss until fully coated in flour, if you want this extra crispy, add a little amount of water for the batter to be like a thick paste.
  4. Heat your oil over high heat until hot (you can test by sticking the end of a wooden spoon or chopstick in the oil – if bubbles form around it, it’s hot enough) then fry for 5-7 minutes.
  5. In a large wok, fry garlic paste and chillis until fragrant then mix in your chicken wings end enjoy!
