About this recipe

I’m currently obsessed with Turkish food—chicken kebabs, lamb chops, grilled chicken wings—you name it, I’m devouring it all! Among these delights, the Chicken Kebabs stand out as it's bursting with an incredible depth of flavor from the rich red pepper flakes and sweet capia peppers. These kebabs are a must-try for anyone who looking to make a takeaway at home.

What makes these Chicken Kebabs even more appealing is their versatility and ease of preparation. Whether you prefer using an air fryer, oven, or stovetop, you can achieve perfect results every time. The air fryer gives them a crispy, golden exterior while keeping the inside tender and juicy. Oven-baking is perfect for making larger batches, and frying them in a pan gives them a beautiful sear and succulent finish.

Beyond their amazing taste, these kebabs are also a fantastic source of protein, making them an excellent choice for gym enthusiasts and anyone looking to maintain a high-protein diet. They are satisfying, nutritious, and delicious, ticking all the boxes for a well-rounded meal.

Capia Peppers

Capia peppers, also known as Kapia or sweet pointed peppers, are a variety of sweet pepper characterized by their elongated, conical shape and vibrant red color when ripe. They are prized for their sweet, mild flavor and thin skin, making them ideal for roasting, grilling, or using in salads and other dishes. Originating from the Mediterranean region, capia peppers are often used in Turkish and Balkan cuisines. They are rich in vitamins A and C and add a sweet, peppery flavor to a variety of culinary applications. You can often find these in Turkish contential shops.

Ingredients

  • 500g Chicken Mince
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 capia pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 50ml water
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • salt to taste

Ingredients

  • 17.5oz Chicken Mince
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 capia pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.7oz water
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of red pepper flakes with 50ml of water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well and set aside to thicken.
  2. In a food processor, chop the capia pepper, green pepper, and garlic until finely minced, this can be manually chopped too!
  3. Transfer the chopped mixture to a sieve or cheesecloth and drain out any excess water, too much water will cause your kebabs to not hold shape
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken mince, chopped pepper and garlic mixture, the thickened red pepper flakes mixture, and chopped parsley and add salt to taste.
  5. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, this can now be left to marinate for four hours or cooked immediately!
  6. Before shaping, fry a small piece of the mixture in a pan to check for seasoning. Adjust salt if needed.
  7. Shape the mixture into kebab shapes or meatballs then heat a non-stick pan or grill over medium heat.
  8. Cook the kebabs or meatballs, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 10-15 minutes depending on size.
  9. Serve the kebabs hot with your choice of sides, such as rice, salad, or flatbread.
